  Wife wants me to read Secret of Family Happiness, any suggestions?

  hello, have been on this board for a few years, and now my wife is asking me to read the subject book with her.

  .

  it seems pretty 'vanilla' in my scan through it, seems to lift up the male headship issue a few times and of course the cure to all ill is to 'attend christian meetings'.. am still working to fully open her eyes, anything in here i can use that may help, any conflicts with current doctrine i could possibly point out??.

  I need some scriptual skill Here (what is the good news?)

  please give me scriptures as to what the 1st century christians were two preach including the body of christian teachings at the time.

  then we can compare that to what gb says the good news is and why one must answer 80 or so questions.

  it will also help me with the ability to prove why i do not wish to be in the door to door work including any scriptual proofs that could be used to show not all should be preaching..

  Met with them. Gave them the depressed line of thought. Exposed the exposer of my opinions as the unreliable person they are. Was encouraged to "come back". Told them I can't right now but in the future I will see. End of story. Marking to be undone. Sheesh. Can't get too specific in order to continue the fade, sorry.

I've never given them reason to doubt my faithfulness or to make them think I talk against the organization. Poor people thought they would be DF'd for talking to me. Religion by man is foolishness. This should be interesting. I'll keep you posted to the degree I'm able. Bring it on!

Just look up some analysis of the artwork and you will see the inferences made. The other picture with the two nudes behind "The Cross of Jesus" as Rick says; are merely classical verisons of slaves. Rick is a whack job. Anyone who thinks God has chosen them from all of mankind to rule with Christ is a nut job. Amen.

  How do you feel about the pledge of allegiance now?

  for you us citizens (and those whose nations have a similar patriotic oath), how do you feel about your children saying the pledge in school if it's customary?.

  my daughter is in 3rd grade and part of her school's morning routine includes the pledge.

  when we stopped attending meetings a year ago, my wife and i explained to her that we don't agree with the jw "idolatry" classification so, naturally, she started joining her class in the pledge.. fast forward to the present: my wife and i are both non-theists who want to raise ethical, caring, tolerant children, but also children who aren't afraid to stand apart, especially when that stand isn't popular.

  SBC: I think that the repetitive action of the flag salute is nothing compared to being armed against it by the teaching of parents. For me it was the JW rationale. Even since the JW's I have a revulsion for nationalism. I've seen the logic of it throughout the years. When a child keeps getting conflicting messages about what is ok and what is not it is not good. That's my point. Just as they are too young in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade to "dedicate" their life to Jehovah (WT) they are too young to comprehend they are pledging thier allegience to this nation against all enemies foreign and domestic. It ain't that big a deal, if you give them somthing solid to hang onto. Sounds like your evolving "ethical" stand is being made clear to your child. The reality is that children will please their parents in either case. If you told them blue fairys hate the flag they would buy that till they grow up and find out its bull. Don't sell short a mind that thinks critically. I applaud you for doing your job as a parent and caring enough to do so. It's getting kind of rare these days don't you think. Accept my apologies for not appreciating your expressions fully. I just don't see that kids take the pledge as seriously as you. Not everyone who recited the Hitler salute had love in their heart for Uncle Adolf. Very many were afraid and the silly childhood ritual became a life preserving practice later in life. Peace.
